ผังเมืองสุโขทัยมีลักษณะเป็นรูปสี่เหลี่ยมผืนผ้า มีความยาวประมาณ 2
กิโลเมตร กว้างประมาณ 1.6 กิโลเมตร มีประตูเมืองอยู่ตรงกลางกำแพงเมือง
แต่ละด้าน ภายในยังเหลือร่องรอยพระราชวังและวัดอีก 26 แห่ง วัดที่ใหญ่ที่สุด
คือวัดมหาธาตุ อุทยานแห่งนี้ได้รับการบูรณปฏิสังขรณ์โดยกรมศิลปากรด้วย
ความช่วยเหลือจากองค์การยูเนสโก มีผู้เยี่ยมชมหลายแสนคนต่อปี ซึ่งสามารถ
